Definition of Intarsia
Intarsia is
created by segmenting the desired project into pieces, like a jigsaw.
The artist then selects different species of wood, keeping in mind
natural grain patterns and natural colors (rather than dyes, stains or
paints), to form different effects in a project. Pieces are also
raised or lowered, and rounded, to create a 3-D effect. The result is
a natural looking image, comprised of all natural elements.
